JARUS published the safety methodology SORA version 2.5 in June 2024. SORA stands for "Specific Operations Risk Assessment". SORA is a methodology developed and published by JARUS to assess risk and provide proportionate risk mitigations for UAS, or drone operations in the Specific Category.
The Joint Authorities for Rulemaking of Unmanned Systems (JARUS) consists of a group of experts from 60+ countries, including from national aviation authorities and regional aviation safety organisations.
The main evolution from SORA v2.0 is the ground risk quantification.
