UAS Business Growth & Partnerships
Win the funding that gets your UAS programme deployed.
Access to non-dilutive funding and strategic innovation programmes is a significant growth enabler. Bid support for UAS companies targeting ATI, Innovate UK, UKRI, regional growth funds, European programmes, UKDI and defence and dual-use programmes.
Strong product. Wrong door.
Local Insight
Competitive funding is not awarded to the best technology or service. It is awarded to the best-presented case for why that technology or service matters, to whom, and by when.
Compelling narrative
Effort sharing
We bid with you as consortium member or subcontractor delivering a real scope of work, sharing the bidding effort and the delivery.
Market Orientation Analysis
A successful bid is supported by an evaluator-ready bid narrative that meets the specific evaluation criteria and offers a defensible project structure.
Evaluator-ready
Compelling narrative
Onboarding end-users
Showcase your commercialisation potential by engaging end-users as active advocates for your innovation. Genuine customer pull is a powerful way to demonstrate market traction.
Evaluator-ready
The right partners
Many funding programmes require industrial partnerships and consortium building. Securing the right partners, those who complement and strengthen your capabilities.
Framing a winning bid with the right ingredients

Local Insight
By the time the real picture comes into focus, the budget for the market entry has already been spent. We ensure that does not happen.
What's missing is someone inside the system who can map the market, frame the capability, and open the right conversations from day one.
Innovation
Above all, demonstrate innovation that meaningfully pushes beyond the current state of the art. This remains the core technical credential that every strong proposal is built upon.
FUNDING PROGRAMMES
Where the UAS funding lives
Innovate UK, UKRI competitions
Smart Grants, sector-specific calls, collaborative R&D programmes. The most common entry point for technically strong UAS companies.
ATI
The Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) Programme funds research and technology in civil aerospace.
Regional growth funds
UK Shared Prosperity Fund, regional combined authority programmes, devolved nation funds. Often overlooked, often the right size for first deployments.
Defence and dual-use programmes
UKDI, defence innovation funds, NATO-aligned dual-use opportunities. A fast-moving space where regulatory-aware bids stand out.
European programmes
Selective access into Horizon Europe and other EU-level funding for UAS companies with credible UK or European partners.
OUR PROCESS
How we run a funding engagement
01
Identify
We work through the live and upcoming UK funding programmes that match your stage, capability and target use case. Innovate UK competitions, UKRI Future Flight challenges, regional growth funds, and the emerging defence and dual-use opportunities across Europe. We tell you straight which ones are worth bidding into and which aren't.
02
Frame
Successful applications require a compelling narrative aligned with programme priorities, evaluation criteria, and policy objectives. We sit with your team to shape the bid narrative, end-user enrolment, partnerships and roles, regulatory pathway, deployment and demonstration realism.
03
Submit
We work alongside your bid lead through drafting, review and submission. We help structure the proposal to demonstrate impact, feasibility, and alignment with the programme priorities. We translate complex drone operations (including SORA-based activities) into accessible, outcome-driven narratives for evaluators who may not be aviation specialists.
Established UAS companies entering new programmes
You're moving into a defence-adjacent, dual-use, or BVLOS-enabled funding stream and need someone with the regulatory perspective the funder will scrutinise.
Built for UAS companies with technology to fund
First-time bidders
You've built credible technology and you're ready to put it through a funded programme. We help you choose the right competition and frame a bid that wins.
R&D programmes ready for next stage
You've completed an early-stage grant and need to translate the technical work into a fundable next phase. We help you shape the follow-on bid.
End-users engaged in innovation
You are an early adopter of emerging technologies, seeking to explore novel solutions, or require external funding to advance your innovation. We can help you navigate the right opportunities.

Grants and advice
Why work with The Drone Office?
With direct experience of the Future Flight Challenge landscape and a working understanding of both the commercial UAS market and the emerging defence and dual-use opportunity, we bring domain credibility to the bid process that generic grant writers cannot. If you have a strong technology proposition and the right team, we help you make sure the application reflects that.
Do you write our bid for us?
We can, and it depends on the bid. Normally we sit alongside the bid lead, shape the framing, bring the regulatory perspective, and review every section. The voice stays yours.
Which funding programmes do you cover?
Primarily Innovate UK, UKRI, ATI, regional growth funds, UKDI, defence and dual-use programmes. We also work selectively on European-level opportunities where a UK or European partnership matters.
Can you help us choose between two programmes?
Yes. That's often the most valuable hour we spend with a client. The wrong programme can cost a quarter of bid effort. We'll tell you which one fits your stage and which doesn't, and why.
Do you take commission or equity?
No. We take on a role in the consortium as co-contractor or subcontractor, paid upon delivery of our scope of work like the other consortium members.
When in the cycle should we bring you in?
As early as possible, ideally before the framing decisions are made. Bringing a regulatory and market-aware perspective into the bid at concept stage is far cheaper than retrofitting it during the final draft.
Can funding work be combined with partnership?
Yes, and it often is. Funded programmes regularly need a partnership story, with end-users and with key technological partners.
