UK SORA Compliance

SORA Training: built around your specific operation

You do not need to become a SORA expert. You need to understand it well enough to make sound operational decisions. Proportionate training. Practical outcomes.

A focused leadership session on what SORA, CAP722K and the UK regulatory landscape mean for your business. No deep dives into the OSO matrix. The signal, not the noise. What changes, what it costs, what to prioritise, and where the regulatory tailwinds are.

Audience
Outcome

A team that understands why your authorisation looks the way it does. The ability to prepare your Operational Authorisation and engage with the CAA with confidence. A clear view of where your current or planned flight envelope has room to grow, and a practical understanding of what it would take to expand it.

What makes this different

This is not a generic SORA methodology course. Most available training runs two to three days and covers the framework in the abstract. Useful for consultants, less so for operators. We start with your specific platform, environment, and objectives, and cover only what is directly relevant to your operation.

Content

Key principles of the SORA methodology: how ground and air risk are assessed, how the tables are constructed, and where conservatism is deliberately built in. We then put those principles to work on a flight mission relevant to your business: your platform, your environment, your intended use case. Walking through a live worked example shows how each step applies in practice, and where the key decisions are made.

SORA TRAINING. FAQS.

expert insights

Is the workshop accredited?

The masterclass is a practitioner-led training session, not a formal certification. The value is in the application: teams leave able to read, write and challenge SORA documentation, not with a stamped certificate.

Where is the workshop delivered?

Either at your offices anywhere in the UK or Europe, or remotely via video. Most teams prefer in-person for the full-day workshop.

How many people can attend?

Up to 12 for the workshop, so the session stays interactive. The executive briefing is sized to your leadership team.

Do you do bespoke sessions for our operation?

Yes. Many clients ask for the workshop tailored around their concept of operations, target SAIL, or specific OSO gaps. We will scope that on the enquiry call.

What are the specificities of your training approach?

Most SORA training courses run two to three days and cover the methodology from first principles. That depth has its place, but for most operators or UAS manufacturers, it is more than you need and less than you want. You do not need to become a SORA expert. You need to understand it well enough to make sound operational decisions, design your mission intelligently, and engage with the CAA with confidence.

Our training sessions are built around your operation from the outset. Rather than walking through the full SORA methodology in the abstract, we focus on the elements most relevant to your platform, your environment, and your commercial objectives. We explain how the risk calculations behind the SORA tables actually work, where conservatism is deliberately built in, and how understanding that creates legitimate room to optimise your flight envelope. A half-day or full-day session. No unnecessary theory. Just the knowledge your team needs to operate confidently within your authorisation, and to grow it over time.

The result is a team that understands why your authorisation is structured the way it is, can brief stakeholders and clients credibly.

What's the difference between this and a SORA application service?

The masterclass builds your team's understanding. The application service builds the document and engagement with the CAA.
